2,000 cops to secure cemeteries in Central Luzon

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – At least 2,000 Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel were deployed early Saturday morning in various cemeteries and transport terminals as Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Luzon implemented Oplan “Undas” 2017 to ensure public safety. Chief Superintendent Amador Corpus, PRO-Central Luzon director, said there are police assistance desks established to provide public assistance to missing persons particularly children. Corpus said there are also medical assistance desk placed in different cemeteries in Central Luzon to those will experience health problems. He said that there are established motorist assistance centers with road safety marshals composed of PNP personnel and with other concerned agencies and volunteer organizations in major thoroughfares and secondary roads in the region 24/7 until the evening of November 2. Corpus said Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams/Barangay Tanods are also deputized by the PNP to assist in the implementation of Implan “Undas.”

Police mobiles will patrol residential areas, business establishments and economic key points to thwart criminality, while the practicing Catholic community is away spending the day in the cemetery to commemorate their departed loved ones and at the same time rekindle ties with relatives taking time-off during the holidays, he said.
