3 suspected drug pushers arrested, 1 killed in shootout
CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Three suspected drug pushers were arrested in Angeles City and Magalang town in Pampanga on Friday.
Those arrested were identified as Adrian Algaba, 23, a resident of Barangay Capaya 2nd; Jerome Cadag, 37, of Barangay Lourdes, both in Angeles City; and Jerwin Garcia, 37, a resident of Barangay Sta. Lucia, Magalang.
Senior Superintendent Sidney Villalfor, Angeles City police director, said Algaba was arrested after he handed a plastic sachet of suspected shabu to a poseur buyer.
Recovered from him were seven sachets of suspected shabu, assorted drug paraphernalia and the P500 marked money.
Cadag was also apprehended by police operatives after the consummation of a drug deal. Recovered from him was a plastic sachet shabu and the P500 marked money.
Magalang police said Garcia is listed as the No. 8 drug personality in the town and was arrested by policemen during the buy bust operation.
Recovered from the suspect were three plastic sachets and the P500 marked money.
Appropriate charges were filed in court against the arrested suspects.
Still in Angeles City, a suspected drug pusher was killed after he traded shots with policemen during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Pampang, Angeles City last Wednesday.
Villaflor said that operatives of the Anti-Illegal Drugs Unit of Police Station 5 shot and killed Mark Leo Lansang, 28, a resident of Purok 1, Barangay Pampang.
Villaflor said the suspect sensed the presence of the lawmen and fired at them that prompted the policemen to retaliate.
The suspect died on the spot due to gunshot wounds, he said.
Three companions of the suspects managed to escape.
Recovered from the suspect was a caliber .38 revolver with four spent shells, a large plastic sachet of shabu and marked money worth P16,000. (Ric Sapnu)
