CLARK FREEPORT — Former president and now Pampanga Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has nothing to do with the impeachment case filed against Supreme Court Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno in the House of Representatives.

“She’s not involved in it,” lawyer Larry Gadon, who filed the case in the House, said Friday during his conversation with members of the Capampangan in Media, Inc. (Cami) here. Gadon was seen talking to Mrs. Arroyo during Cami’s Christmas party at Annabel’s in Quezon City last December 8. “In fact, the first time I approached her about it, she declined and tried to talk me out of the plan,” Gadon said. “Ipasa-Diyos na lang natin,” Mrs. Arroyo was quoted as saying by Gadon.

He also denied that President Duterte is behind the impeachment. Meanwhile, Gadon has expressed optimism about the impeachment. “I am confident that the Senate will render a decision favoring her (Sereno’s) removal from office by March next year,” Gadon said. Gadon said there is sufficient evidence to prove Sereno’s guilt in violation of the Constitution and other infractions. He said that the removal from office of Sereno will be good for the country. Gadon, who run for the Senate in 2106 but lost, said he will run again in 2019 and expects to win this time around. “I’m sure the followers of Duterte and former Senator Marcos will support me,” he said.
