Exec calls for solutions to traffic at NLEX
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Laus Group of Companies Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Levy Laus announced Wednesday, December 20, that expansion and development plans are now in the works to relieve the traffic situation along the sections of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) in Pampanga.
Laus, who is also chairman emeritus of the Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc., made this announcement before media men during a Christmas gathering at the LausGroup Complex here, as local stakeholders are expecting the heavy build up of traffic along Jose Abad Santos Avenue (Jasa) here. Laus, who is part of the NLEx board, said the expansions were proposed for the approaches of the tollgates in San Fernando and Angeles City. Proposed development works are also proposed for permanent U turn slots along the Jasa approach of the NLEx, as well as possible expansion works for the Mexico area. “It is also expected that in the next 10 years, traffic along Jasa will be heavy,” Laus said, adding that government planners are eyeing the construction of a highway from Santo Tomas to Lubao town that will connect to the NLEx.
This is expected to funnel out traffic along Jasa toward the new highway, which is expected to be just in time to address traffic influx in the coming years. Development projects along the Telabastagan area and near the Capitol by big mall giants are also being monitored, said Laus.
