Kidnapped boy rescued in Quezon City
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The one-year-old boy allegedly kidnapped by his supposed mother’s friend was rescued by local authorities here on Monday morning in Quezon City. This city’s chief of police Superintendent Roland Agohob said the child, whose name was withheld, was rescued in Pasong Tamo, Quezon City after authorities successfully traced the location of the suspect. It could be remembered that the baby boy was allegedly taken away from his mother Chesser Sunga by a female suspect identified as Glorybell Bautista in a mall in the city Saturday afternoon. The suspect allegedly befriended Sunga with a motive of “borrowing” her son to introduce to her live-in partner as her own child.
To accomplish her plan, Bautista allegedly invited Sunga to come to the mall with her along with the young boy. While strolling, Sunga allegedly had the need to go to the bathroom. It was then that the suspect volunteered to carry the boy, Agohob said. Sunga still tried to look for her son around the mall with the help of mall security but to no avail. She then sought the help of the city police that led to the rescue of the child.
Agohob said that Bautista was traced through the help of a money transfer establishment where she made a recent transaction. When the police retrieved the contact numbers used, they were able to contact the suspect’s live-in partner, who was allegedly clueless of the situation. He added that they also coordinated with the barangay to hold the child and the suspect in custody and ensure their security. The city police, together with the victim’s mother, successfully rescued the child on Monday morning, November 6, while Bautista was arrested. The suspect is now detained at the city’s police station and will be facing charges for kidnapping.
