Mark Anthony transferred to Angeles City district jail
ANGELES CITY — Actor Mark Anthony Fernandez, who was arrested for possession of a kilo of marijuana last week, was transferred on Saturday to the district jail at Camp Pepito in Barangay Sto. Domingo in this city.
Fernandez, who was initially detained at the Police Station 6, is now staying at Cell Number 8, which has three double deck beds.
Fernandez’s lawyer Sylvia Flores earlier filed a petition to transfer the actor to the provincial jail, saying the Angeles City police Station 6 is “too crowded.”
The actor tested positive for marijuana use but not shabu.
Fernandez was arrested for alleged possession of a kilo of marijuana, which police found in his Ford Mustang car.
The Regional Trial Court Branch 60 set the arraignment of Fernandez for the illegal drug case on October 24. The actor’s arraignment on the resistance and disobedience was set on November 17.
Flores filed a petition for a reinvestigation of the cases, saying the police presented Fernandez to the media without a lawyer.
Fernandez earlier admitted using marijuana to fight cancer. He however denied that he owns the brick of marijuana which police reportedly found inside his car.
