Pamintuan orders crackdown vs illegal drugs
ANGELES CITY — Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan has directed the city police to intensify operations against illegal drugs.
The mayor at the same time directed the Angeles City Anti-Illegal Drugs Abuse Council (ACADAC) to “continue grassroots education campaign on the menace of illegal drugs.”
Pamintuan, who is the president of the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP), has implemented a campaign against criminality and illegal drugs during his first two terms as local chief executive from 1992 to 1995, 1995 to 1998, and another first term in 2010.
Under Pamintuan’s leadership, Angeles City has received several awards as best anti-illegal drug abuse council.
Pamintuan personally led the apprehension of several criminals operating in this city including some riding-in-tandem elements who died in a shoot-out with the police and the mayor’s security team several years ago.
“We started this war against illegal drugs in 1992 and again since 2010. There should be no let up against illegal drugs. This is the worst menace to our society,” Pamintuan said.
