    Lazatin: Increase barangay workers’ salaries

ANGELES CITY -- Councilor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. is pushing for an increase in the salaries of barangay workers.

Lazatin said he filed four separate resolutions on September 20 asking Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan to increase the honoraria and salaries of Barangay Nutrition Scholars, Barangay Service Point Officers, Barangay Health Workers and Day Care Workers.

In Resolution Number 119-19-16, Lazatin is “respectfully requesting Mayor Pamintuan to include the promised increase of additional P 4,000 to the salaries of 71 city’s day care workers that are under Job order status in the next annual executive budget.”

The City government has a total of 78 day care workers -- three are in permanent status while four are casuals.

The remaining 71 day care workers are now receiving a monthly salary of P 3,000 to P8,000, depending on their yearly evaluation rating.

Lazatin also filed Resolution Number 121-09-16, “requesting Mayor Pamintuan to include in the next annual executive budget the increase of allowance of the 42 health workers from P 2,000 to P 3,500 monthly.”

The Barangay Health Workers, who are under the city health office, assist in the delivery of basic health services in the city’s 33 barangays.

Lazatin filed another resolution, Number 122-109-16, “requesting Mayor Pamintuan to include in the next Executive Budget the P 1,500 additional allowance increase of 47 Barangay Nutrition Scholars.”

The Barangay Nutrition Scholars under the City Nutrition Office of the Office of the Mayor are in-charge of monitoring overweight and underweight children.

The fourth resolution, Number 123-09-16, Lazatin is “requesting Mayor Pamintuan to include in the nest annual executive Budget the increase of allowance of the Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPO) from P 2,000 to 3,500 monthly.”

The BSPO are also under the City Health Office, who are in-charge of implementation of the city’s population program.

Lazatin’s requests are additional annual budget of P3,408,000.00 for day care workers, P756,000.00 for Barangay Health Workers, P846,000.00 for Barangay Nutrition Scholars and P756,000.00 for BSPO.

“The city has a proposed budget of P1.7 Billion for 2017. We are talking of P5.7 Million only for the increase. I hope the good Mayor Pamintuan will consider,” Lazatin said.

Lazatin said Mayor Pamintuan has submitted a P1.7 Billion proposed budget for 2017 -- P200 Million higher from the last year’s budget.
